Candles in Candelara

A village lit by candlelight alone

Twice a day, for a quarter of an hour, Candelara switches off every electric light and the village is left lit by candles alone. That is the moment worth being there for. Around it: the Christmas market, the candlemakers' workshops and the open houses of a medieval village a few kilometres from Pesaro.

Days: 28-29 November; 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 19, 20 December.

Fano Carnival

One of the oldest carnivals in Italy

Fano's Carnival is documented from 1347 and is famous for the getto: quintals of sweets rain down from the floats onto the crowd, who catch them with upturned umbrellas and nets. The 2027 edition brings four brand-new allegorical floats and a longer, heavier getto, starting from the presentation lap.

The three parades: Sunday 31 January, Sunday 7 and Sunday 14 February.
