Urbino offers countless cultural opportunities thanks to its many museums and architectural monuments rich in history, art and culture. The city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
The city's main monument, archetype of the unfortified 15th-century princely residence. Started by Luciano Laurana, with later work by Francesco di Giorgio Martini and Girolamo Genga. Home to the National Gallery: Piero della Francesca, Raphael, Titian, Federico Barocci, and the enigmatic Ideal City.
Built by Federico da Montefeltro to a design by Francesco di Giorgio Martini, completed by Muzio Oddi in 1604, and rebuilt in neoclassical style by Giuseppe Valadier after the 1789 earthquake. Inside, works by Maratta, Ridolfi and Federico Barocci's Last Supper.
A typical example of a Renaissance bourgeois residence. On the first floor: paintings, memorabilia and prints, and a fresco Madonna and Child attributed to a very young Raphael. The workshop of his father Giovanni Santi.
Founded at the end of the 14th century. Houses the region's finest fresco cycle, in flamboyant Gothic style typical of the Marches. The Salimbeni brothers from Sanseverino painted the Life of Saint John the Baptist and a grand Crucifixion here in 1416.
Fortification on the highest point of Mount San Sergio. Built in the second half of the 14th century, it bears the name of Cardinal Albornoz. Now hosts the "Bella Gerit" Museum with archaeological finds and war equipment (1300-1500). Privileged panoramic view.
Rises from the Mercatale up to the Theatre level, at the foot of the Torricini. Designed by the brilliant Sienese architect as an access road to the ducal stables. Restored in 1975-77 by Giancarlo De Carlo.
Medieval origin, preserves its original portico and pointed bell tower. Inside (restored in the 18th century), the main altar features the Pardon of Assisi by Federico Barocci. Contains the tombstones of Raphael's parents: Giovanni Santi and Màgia Ciarla.
